Delete your account

DiscoverMyDog

In the app (fastest)

Open DiscoverMyDog and go to More, then Settings.
Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
Check what will be deleted, tick the box, and tap Delete my account.

It happens right away, and you'll be signed out on every phone.

Without the app

Email hello@discovermydog.com from the email address you signed up with, with the subject "Delete my account". We'll delete your account within 30 days and email you when it's done.

What's deleted

Your account and sign-in (your email and password stop working).
Your dogs and their profiles, and every discovery and moment on them.
Your photos.
Your badges, progress, settings and feedback.
Anything you added to a dog someone shares with you (that dog stays with its owner).

What's kept, and for how long

Nothing you can use or see. Deleted information may remain in encrypted backups for up to 14 days before it's gone for good. Server logs and crash reports, which we keep your notes, photos and email address out of, are kept for 30 days. Anything you added to a dog someone else shares leaves a blank marker with no words or photos, so their phones remove it too. If someone in that dog's family reported something you added, the copy in their report stays with their account. We keep a note that your account was deleted (its internal ID only, with no email address, name or photo), so your other phones know to clear it. If you bought DiscoverMyDog+, a record of each purchase (which plan, when, and the store's country and price, under a random ID, never your email address or anything about your dog) is kept for accounting and tax. A dog you shared with family is deleted too, so they lose it as well, with the moments they kept with it. Outside DiscoverMyDog, for as long as each service keeps them: usage events in PostHog (only if Share Usage Data was on; up to 1 year, with no account ID, so deletion can't reach them), what Google's AI received for Ask and insights (up to 55 days, only to check for misuse), and copies of the emails Resend sent you (30 days).

A subscription

Deleting your account doesn't cancel a DiscoverMyDog+ subscription. Cancel it first in the App Store or Google Play, so you aren't charged again.
