Terms of Use

DiscoverMyDog · last updated October 26, 2026

1. About these Terms

These Terms are the rules for using DiscoverMyDog. You accept them when you create an account, buy DiscoverMyDog+, or use DiscoverMyDog after seeing them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

  1. Who we are. DiscoverMyDog (the app, the website discovermydog.com and the services behind them) is run by Deekshith Salian, an individual based in Mangaluru, Karnataka, India. "We", "us" and "our" mean the operator of DiscoverMyDog. "You" means the person using it.
  2. What these Terms cover. These Terms apply whenever you use DiscoverMyDog, with or without an account, on a phone, a tablet or the web.
  3. Other documents. Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and why, and is part of these Terms. The App Store's or Google Play's own terms also apply to downloading the app and to anything you buy through them.
  4. This version. This version of the Terms takes effect on October 26, 2026. Section 13 explains how we tell you about changes.

2. Who can use DiscoverMyDog

You must be at least 13 years old to use DiscoverMyDog.

  1. Under 18. If you are 13 to 17 (or under the age of majority where you live), a parent or legal guardian must agree to these Terms for you, and is responsible for your use. Some features, such as buying DiscoverMyDog+ or sharing a dog with family, may need their help.
  2. Under 13. DiscoverMyDog is not for children under 13. If we learn that someone under 13 has an account, we will delete it.
  3. One person per account. Your account is for you alone. Share a dog with family through the app's family sharing (section 7), not by sharing a login.
  4. Where you live. You may use DiscoverMyDog only where it is legally available to you. You must not use it if the law of the United States or India stops you from receiving it, for example because you are on a government list of restricted people.

3. Your account

You can use much of DiscoverMyDog without an account. An account backs up your dog's story and is needed for Ask AI, DiscoverMyDog+ and family sharing.

  1. Signing in. You can sign in with an email address and password, with Apple, or with Google. When you use Apple or Google, their own terms also apply to that sign-in.
  2. Keep it safe. Keep your password and your phone secure. You are responsible for what happens in your account, unless it happens because of our mistake. Tell us at once at hello@discovermydog.com if you think someone else is using it.
  3. Accurate details. Give a real email address you can receive mail at. We use it only as the Privacy Policy describes.
  4. Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings › Delete account, or as described on our delete account page. Deleting it removes your dogs, your story, your photos and your sign-in, as the Privacy Policy describes, and can't be undone. It does not cancel a DiscoverMyDog+ subscription: cancel that in the App Store or Google Play first (section 6).

4. What DiscoverMyDog is, and what it isn't

DiscoverMyDog helps you notice and record how your dog plays, thinks and feels. It is not veterinary, medical, training or behavioral advice.

  1. Not a vet. Nothing in the app, including AI answers, insights, breed information and dog facts, diagnoses, treats or prevents any condition. For your dog's health or behavior, talk to a vet or a qualified behaviorist. In an emergency, contact a vet straight away.
  2. Your dog, your judgment. You are responsible for your dog's safety and well-being during every discovery. Only try a discovery if it suits your dog's age, health, size and temperament. Use treats and toys your dog can safely have, keep an eye on your dog the whole time, and stop at once if your dog seems stressed, tired, in pain or uninterested. Never force a dog to take part.
  3. Children and other people. Supervise children who join in, and take care around other people and animals, especially outdoors. Follow local rules, such as leash laws.
  4. What the app says about your dog. Patterns and insights come from what you record. They can be incomplete or wrong, and they describe tendencies, not facts about your dog. Breed information describes breeds in general, not your dog.

5. AI features

Ask AI and insights are written by artificial intelligence, so they can be wrong. Check anything important, and never rely on them for your dog's health or safety.

  1. You choose. AI features run only after you allow them, and you can turn them off at any time in Settings › Privacy & AI. What we send to our AI provider, Google, is set out in the Privacy Policy.
  2. Daily limits. AI features have daily limits, shown in the app, so the service stays available and affordable for everyone. We may change these limits. Using several accounts, scripts or other tricks to get around them is not allowed.
  3. Safety answers. For questions about something your dog ate or a possible emergency, the app may give a fixed safety answer instead of an AI answer, telling you to contact a vet.
  4. What you type. Don't put other people's personal details, or anything you would not want processed by an AI service, into a question. Questions must follow section 9.
  5. Using answers. You may use the answers you receive for your own, personal, non-commercial purposes. Answers may be similar to answers given to other people.
  6. Reporting. You can report any answer (Report, under its "…"). We review reports and use them to make answers safer and more accurate. A report doesn't guarantee that an answer changes or that we reply to you personally.

6. DiscoverMyDog+ (the subscription)

DiscoverMyDog+ is an optional, auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store or Google Play, which take the payment. The DiscoverMyDog+ page in the app shows your offer before you buy: what it includes, its price, how often you pay and any free trial. These can differ by country and change over time.

  1. What it includes. The features the DiscoverMyDog+ page describes when you subscribe. The free app includes fewer discoveries and features, for one dog.
  2. Price. The app shows the price in your currency, and how often you'll pay it, before you buy, including any tax the store adds. That is the offer you agree to.
  3. Free trials. If your offer includes a free trial, the DiscoverMyDog+ page shows how long it lasts. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, the store charges the subscription's price when it ends. Whether you can have a trial is decided by the store's rules.
  4. Automatic renewal. The subscription renews at the end of each period, at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. The store charges your account within 24 hours before the period ends.
  5. Canceling. Cancel at any time in your Apple Account's Subscriptions settings, in Google Play's Subscriptions, or from Settings › Manage subscription in the app. Canceling stops the next renewal. You keep DiscoverMyDog+ until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel it.
  6. Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies; we can't issue them ourselves. Ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, or Google Play in your order history. Nothing here limits refund rights you have by law.
  7. Price changes. If the price changes, the store tells you in advance, as its rules require, and asks for your agreement where needed. You can cancel before the new price applies.
  8. When it ends. When DiscoverMyDog+ ends, its features lock again, but your dogs, discoveries and moments stay. Dogs beyond the free plan's one stay saved, but locked until you subscribe again.
  9. Family. If you own a dog and have DiscoverMyDog+, the family you share that dog with can use its DiscoverMyDog+ features for that dog. Ask AI needs each person's own subscription.
  10. Restoring. On a new phone, sign in to the same account, or use Restore purchases on the DiscoverMyDog+ page.

7. Sharing a dog with family

A dog's owner can invite a few other people (the app shows how many) to share one dog and its story, and everyone in that family can see what the others add.

  1. Invites. Only the dog's owner can invite, with a one-time code. Share codes only with people you know and trust. When you join, you agree to keep it kind (section 9).
  2. What others see. The family sees the dog, its discoveries with their notes and photos, the names of the people in it, and any moment someone chooses to share. Moments you keep stay private unless you share them. The Privacy Policy describes this in full.
  3. The owner's controls. The owner can remove anything added to their dog, and can remove a person, with or without what they added.
  4. Everyone's controls. Anyone can leave a family at any time, report something someone else added, or hide everything one person adds.
  5. What stays and what goes. You can remove what you added while you are still in the family. After you leave or are removed, the discoveries you added stay with that dog until the owner removes them or you delete your account; your own moments of that dog go with you. If the owner deletes the dog or their account, the dog is deleted for everyone in its family.
  6. Shared responsibility. Each person is responsible for what they add. We are not a party to arrangements between family members about a dog.

8. Your content

What you put into DiscoverMyDog (your dog's profile, discoveries, notes, moments, photos, questions and feedback) stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the service.

  1. Permission you give us. You allow us to store, copy, process, back up and show your content, and to send it to the service providers named in the Privacy Policy, only to run DiscoverMyDog for you and for the family you share a dog with, and to keep it safe. This permission is worldwide, free of charge and non-exclusive, and it doesn't make your content ours.
  2. When it ends. It ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups for up to 14 days, and what the law requires us to keep.
  3. Your rights to it. Only add photos and words you have the right to use. If a photo shows other people, make sure they are happy for it to be in the app.
  4. Feedback. If you send ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve DiscoverMyDog without paying you or crediting you. Your feedback is still handled as the Privacy Policy says.
  5. Keep your own copies. We work hard to keep your content safe, but keep your own copies of photos that matter to you.

9. Keep it kind: rules for using DiscoverMyDog

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. If you break these rules, we may remove content or close accounts.

You must not use DiscoverMyDog to:

  1. Harass, bully, threaten or demean anyone, or post hateful, sexual, violent or otherwise offensive words or images.
  2. Harm, neglect or mistreat an animal, or record, share or encourage cruelty to animals.
  3. Share someone else's personal information, or photos of people without their permission.
  4. Break the law, or infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights.
  5. Send spam or advertising, or pretend to be someone else.
  6. Get around daily limits, sign-in, payment or other protections, or use more than one account to do so.
  7. Copy, scrape, reverse-engineer or overload the app or its servers, or use bots or scripts with it, except as the law allows.
  8. Upload malware, or try to reach accounts or data that aren't yours.

How we enforce it. Words that break these rules may be filtered automatically before family members see them; filters can miss things, or catch harmless words. Anyone can report something a family member added, and we review reports within 24 hours. We may remove content, remove someone from a family, suspend or close an account, and report illegal activity to the authorities. Where reasonable, we will tell you why.

10. Our app and content

We give you a personal, limited license to use DiscoverMyDog. We keep all rights in the app and its own content.

  1. Your license. While you follow these Terms, you may install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. You can't transfer this license, sell it or sub-license it.
  2. What we own. The app, its design, the discoveries, texts, pictures, sounds and the name and logo DiscoverMyDog belong to us or to those who license them to us.
  3. What you may not do. You may not copy, change, sell or publish the app or its content, or remove our notices, except as the law allows or we agree in writing.
  4. Open-source parts. The app uses open-source software under its own licenses. Those licenses apply to those parts.

11. App stores and other services

If you got DiscoverMyDog from Apple's App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and these Terms add to it. If you got it from Google Play, Google Play's terms apply to the download and to purchases.

If you use DiscoverMyDog on an Apple device:

  1. Who is responsible. These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for DiscoverMyDog and its content. Apple has no obligation to maintain or support it.
  2. License scope. Your license is to use the app on Apple-branded products you own or control, as the App Store's Usage Rules allow, including through Family Sharing where it applies.
  3. Warranty. If the app fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund what you paid for the app, if anything. To the fullest extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
  4. Claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claims about the app, such as product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection or privacy laws.
  5. Intellectual property. If someone claims that the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending and settling that claim.
  6. Legal compliance. You confirm you are not in a country under a US government embargo, or designated by it as supporting terrorism, and are not on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  7. Other terms. You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app, such as your mobile carrier's.
  8. Apple's right to enforce. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept them, Apple may enforce them against you.

Other services. DiscoverMyDog relies on services run by others, listed in the Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for websites or services we link to but don't run.

12. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us, how long we keep it and the choices you have. If these Terms and the Privacy Policy ever say different things about your personal information, the Privacy Policy applies.

13. Changes to the app and to these Terms

DiscoverMyDog will keep changing, and these Terms may change with it. We tell you about important changes before they apply.

  1. The app. We may add, change or remove features, discoveries and content. If we remove a main feature of DiscoverMyDog+ while you are subscribed, we will tell you, and you can cancel.
  2. These Terms. When we change them, we update this page and its date. For an important change, we tell you in the app or by email before it applies, usually at least 14 days before, unless it is needed sooner for legal, safety or security reasons.
  3. Your choice. If you keep using DiscoverMyDog after a change applies, the new Terms apply to you; where the law needs your agreement again, we will ask for it. If you don't agree, stop using it and delete your account. A change never takes away rights you already have.

14. Suspension and ending these Terms

You can stop using DiscoverMyDog at any time. We may suspend or close an account for the reasons below.

  1. You. Stop using the app, and delete your account if you want your information removed (section 3).
  2. Us. We may limit a feature, suspend or close an account, or remove someone from a family, if they seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, use DiscoverMyDog for fraud or against the law, put its security at risk, are under 13, or if the law requires it, or to protect people, animals or the service. Where reasonable, we tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem; for urgent safety, security, fraud or legal reasons we may act at once.
  3. If we close DiscoverMyDog. We will tell you in the app in good time, usually at least 30 days before, so you can save what matters to you, unless events outside our control or the law make that impossible. Subscriptions will stop renewing; refunds follow Apple's or Google's policies and the law.
  4. What continues. What these Terms say about feedback (section 8), our app and content (section 10), disclaimers (section 15), liability (section 16), indemnity (section 17), disputes (section 18) and general terms (section 19) still applies after they end.

15. Disclaimers

We provide DiscoverMyDog "as is" and "as available", and, to the extent the law allows, without promises beyond those in these Terms.

  1. No guarantees. We don't promise that the app will always be available, error-free or secure, that it will work with every device, or that what it says about your dog, including AI answers, is accurate or complete.
  2. No implied promises. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties, such as merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
  3. Your legal rights. Some places don't allow these exclusions. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have as a consumer that can't be excluded by contract.

16. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of what you paid for DiscoverMyDog+ in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50.

  1. Indirect losses. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, data or goodwill, even if we knew they were possible.
  2. Your dog and your activities. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for injury, illness, loss or damage to any person, animal or property that arises from trying a discovery or acting on what the app says. You choose which discoveries to do and how (section 4).
  3. What we don't limit. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or willful misconduct, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.

17. Indemnity

If someone makes a claim against us because content you added infringes their rights, because you used DiscoverMyDog against the law, or because you deliberately or seriously broke these Terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, to the extent the law allows. This doesn't apply to claims caused by our own fault, and it doesn't limit your rights as a consumer.

18. Governing law and disputes

If something goes wrong, contact us first: most problems are solved quickly by email.

  1. Talk to us first. Write to hello@discovermydog.com with what happened and what you would like us to do. We aim to reply within 15 days and will try to put things right. Writing to us first never stops you from going to a consumer forum or a court where the law lets you.
  2. Which law. These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
  3. Which courts. Disputes go to the courts at Mangaluru, Karnataka, India, unless the law lets you bring a claim where you live.
  4. Your local protections. If you are a consumer, you keep the protections of the consumer laws where you live that can't be changed by contract, and you may bring a claim in your local courts where those laws allow it.
  5. Grievance Officer. Complaints about content or these Terms, including under India's Information Technology rules, can be sent to our Grievance Officer, Deekshith Salian, at hello@discovermydog.com. As those rules set out, we acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days.

19. General terms

  1. Whole agreement. These Terms, with the Privacy Policy (and, for downloads and purchases, the app store's terms), are the whole agreement between you and us about DiscoverMyDog.
  2. If part doesn't work. If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest still applies, and that part is applied as closely to its purpose as the law allows.
  3. No waiver. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  4. Transfer. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours to someone who takes over DiscoverMyDog, as long as your rights aren't reduced.
  5. Events outside our control. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events we can't reasonably control, such as outages of the services we rely on.
  6. Notices. We may contact you by email at your account's address or in the app. You can reach us as in section 20.
  7. Language. These Terms are written in English. If a translation differs, the English version applies, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
